THE LUZ APPROACH

At Luz, each program is designed around the individual needs of the student; integrating our coaches into a child’s support “village”, which often includes the family, therapists, and school personnel.

HOW IT WORKS

l

Design Stage

An introduction to Luz and a review of the current needs and goals by a Development Educator. At this stage, the right program is tailor-made to meet your objectives. You will also be assigned a COACH, who will be the students’ main point of contact.

Implementation

Your COACH will then design the day-to-day program, including detailed schedules for every minute they are engaged with the LUZ program. Your COACH working with the DE will ensure that the program is working to achieve the goals.

Monitor

Every 6 months, the core team (including parents/ carers, COACH and DE) will review the program against the objectives. At this stage, changes are made to schedules as required.

Add on Sessions

In addition to our programs, parents can also add some activities to their children’s sessions. We happily integrate the activities into each child’s personalised program according to family goals and child needs.

Swimming

It’s a great activity for their relaxation, motor skills, body workout, sensory skills, etc. Swimming is very popular among our children. Especially during summer and hot days, we always try to integrate it into our weekend and holiday programs.

Our personalised and integrated approach allows us to include it in any of our programs according to your child’s goals and needs.

Special Yoga

Special Yoga is a big part of our program’s bases.

Some of the benefits of Special Yoga are to enable young people to regulate their emotions, increase concentration and focus, inspire confidence and wellbeing, improve sleep, have the capacity to be relaxed and calm, gain deeper self-awareness and self-acceptance, improving physical/mental strength and flexibility, developing kindness and compassion towards self, others and the world around them.

We also provide Special Yoga workshops/training courses for parents and carers on a seasonal basis when we’re lucky enough to have Special Yoga’s founder Jyoti Jo Manuel in Australia.

Excursions

Being part of the community is one of our main goals in our programs. So, our coaches often go out of Luz centre on excursions to give our clients as many opportunities as possible to participate in activities with others and work on their safety and social skills. Also, you can always arrange with our team if you’d like your child to attend any specific event/ excursions where support from our coaches is needed.

ABM - Anat Baniel Method

With a gentle approach, ABM focuses on your child’s abilities, not their limitations. NeuroMovement® and the 9 Essentials utilise brain plasticity science and positive brain change to create new connections in your child’s brain. As a result, it often leads to spontaneous, extraordinary breakthroughs in movement, thinking, self-regulation, and connection with others.

Seasonally, an ABM registered practitioner comes from the US to offer our children intensive sessions at the Luz centre.
